The Blues Society of the Ozarks (BSO) is a not-for-profit organization that supports and encourages performance of blues music at multiple venues, festivals and on the radio. The organization promotes Blues in the Schools (BITS) and hosts the Greater Ozarks Blues Festival in the fall.
The proceeds from the BSO Blue Rooster 5K and 1 mile walk/run will benefit local artists and BSO sponsored events. In 2015/16, the BSO sponsored and provided resources for two local artists, Bobby G and Cory Swift, and the local band Tripwire, enabling 
them to compete in the International Blues Competition in Memphis, TN. The society also raised money for a local artist’s family to help relieve the burden of medical expenses.
The 5k will start at 9:00 a.m. with the one mile run run/walk starting shortly thereafter. All participants registering before April 1st will be guaranteed a BSO T-shirt!
The event will be preceding our first BSO Picnic of the year that will take place in Tom Watkins Park, Springfield, MO. Come join us for great live music!

When: April 17, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. Sign-in starts at 8:00 a.m.
Where: Tom Watkins Park, 2100 W. High, Springfield, MO
Cost:
• 5K - $25/1 Mile - $15 before 4/1 (REGISTER BEFORE APRIL 1 TO GUARANTEE A SHIRT!) 
• 5K - $30/1 Mile $20 before 4/16
• 5K - $35/1 Mile $25 day of race
Registration and Package pick-up:
• Pre-register by completing the registration form, make checks payable to Blues Society of the Ozarks and mail to: Retha Dawes, 625 N Sunset Ave, Bolivar, MO 65613. Or you can register online.
• Registration and packet pick-up will be Saturday, April 16th at Ultra Max Sports, 1254 E. Republic Road from 1pm to 4pm and also the morning of the race from 8:00 A.M. to 8:45 A.M.

Awards & Medals
Overall Male/Female will receive a BSO Blue Rooster Run Trophy and Gift Certificate for a 1 hour massage (for both female and male) from LMS-Leann's Massage Shop in Springfield.
Medals will be given to the top 3 Male & Female in each age group (Gold/Silver/Bronze): 9 & Under, 10-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 & Over.
